The Website publishes details of public activities (lectures, workshops, video showings, discussions, etc) organized by Share International-affiliated groups in the UK. It also includes a summary of the background to Share International’s work and an explanation of Transmission Meditation, and provides a means whereby those interested in taking up Transmission Meditation may be put in touch with groups in their area already practising this form of meditation.
In accordance with data protection laws, this Policy explains what items of personal data are gathered via the Website, and how this information is used.
There are two data collection forms on the Website:
1. For matters relating to the UK Transmission Meditation Group Network (https://uk.share-international.org/transmission-meditation-network/). This form is intended for those who are seeking to join an established Transmission Meditation group in their area, and invites them to provide personal details with the aim of facilitating contact between them and any existing local groups. The form can also be used by anyone who has such an established meditation group to notify Share International UK of its existence, and to say whether or not it will accept referrals from anyone seeking to join such a group. Finally, the form can also be used to request removal from the Transmission Meditation Group Network.
This form provides the means to submit the following items of personal data:
First name, Last name, Postal address, Telephone numbers, Email address, Nearest town, Previous experience of Transmission Meditation.
2. General contact form to facilitate communication with Share International UK, as an alternative to post and telephone (https://uk.share-international.org/contact/).
This form invites the site visitor to submit the following items of personal data:
First name, Last name, Email address, Telephone number.
Use of personal information
The details provided via either of the forms described above are not stored online, but are sent by email to Share International UK’s London office.
The data submitted via the Transmission Meditation Group Network form are entered into an offline database established for the purpose of facilitating contact between Transmission Meditation groups and group members.
For referring individuals to established groups, only telephone numbers are sent to group coordinators. No other items of personal information are shared with anyone by Share International UK.
As an aid to combating SPAM and potentially non-serious, fraudulent or other misuse of the form, the user’s IP address is also included in the email that is sent to Share International UK.
Retention and removal of personal data
Share International UK will retain the personal information submitted via the Transmission Meditation Group Network form in its Transmission Meditation group database until requested to remove it by the subject of the information.
